We had a good development day and the testing crew and I are pretty beat. We got a lot accomplished though. Meghan’s Memory Game 2nd Grade has been completed and we also finished up updates to Kindergarten to re-release it with the same code base (1.1) that First Grade is running. The 1.1 version contains a correction to how we tracked the score and has a cleaner looking first level interface. Right out of the gate we included these changes into the Second Grade. Second Grade has also been enhanced with a third playing level. This is sure to make the game a bit more interesting for the older kids. So, if all goes well with the App Store review process, Meghan’s Memory Game 2nd Grade for the iPhone and iPod Touch should be released on the 25th of April. The 1.1 update to Kindergarten will be released as soon as the App review process is complete.

The update to Meghan’s Memory Game 1st Grade released on April 16th has jumped into one of the top 100 paid app slots in the Educational Game category in the iTunes App Store. Friday morning it was hovering in the 90’s, the last time I checked it was listed at number 84! Who knows at this rate maybe this app will go all the way into the top 20.

If you have been holding off in buying the game waiting for the 2nd grade edition, good news, we recently completed the voice recordings and are finishing up our beta test of Meghan’s Memory Game 2nd Grade. If all goes well, we will be uploading it to Apple this weekend and shooting for a release date of April 23 or so.
We are pleased to announce that today Meghan’s Memory Game Kindergarten for the iPhone and iPod Touch received final approval from Apple and is available in the educational games section of the iTunes Apps Store. Meghan’s Memory Games are classic style memory games aimed at teaching the reading and spelling of the most common words a child will come across in their daily reading. The Kindergarten edition contains over 250 two, three and four letter words.

First thing.. Today we finished up an enhancement to the first grade edition of Meghan’s Memory Game. Changes included an enlarged set of cards on level one which creates a more pleasing visual appearance. We also adjusted the score and tries counter to reset when beginning a new game and corrected a spelling error on the score board. These enhancements once approved by the App Store are included in version 1.1 which is a free upgrade to anyone who already purchased the game. Next up, we plan on adding in a high score board and then we will be adding the ability to adjust/create lists of words to choose from. The lists will create a way for parents and teachers to align the game with words the student is currently working on in the classroom.
Second thing… We have been contacted by a application review site dedicated to educational applications and their use in the classroom. This is a fantastic resource and one that I am sure will prove invaluable for feedback as our applications progress. The site is called I Educate Apps Review and hopefully a review of Meghan’s Memory game will be available soon.

Sales have been steadily growing with our first release in the Meghan’s Memory Game series of educational games. RatCat is excited to announce that we have now completed the kindergarten edition. Aimed at the four to five year old Meghan’s Memory Game Kindergarten contains over 250 two, three and four letter words. This version is pending the Apple App Store approval and will hopefully be available starting on April 12th, 2009. Next up will be version upgrade to our first grade edition as we have developed a better method of compressing the audio files and will be able to reduce the size of our application. After that we will focus attention on completing a 2nd grade edition.
